‘Tis the season for sharing with those around us, so leading fresh produce marketer Oppy and East Greenwich, RI-based Dave’s Marketplace have just wrapped up the second annual “Put the Crunch on Hunger” campaign to benefit the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Twenty-five cents of every pound of JAZZ™, Envy™ or Pacific Rose™ apples purchased by Dave’s Marketplace customers between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve will be donated toward warm meals this winter.
“We’ve set a goal of $2,500 which we hope will make a meaningful difference for area families in need,” said TJ Wilson, business development representative at Oppy. “Dave’s customers are enjoying some of the freshest and most flavorful apples currently available while providing welcome support for those less fortunate in the community.”
The promotion drew shopper interest through signage, banners, and large displays in the nine Dave’s Marketplace stores, as well as through social media engagement.
“We are excited to ‘Put the Crunch on Hunger’ again this season,” said Susan Budlong, marketing communications manager at Dave’s Marketplace. “JAZZ™, Envy™ and Pacific Rose™ are popular with our shoppers all year round, though they seemed to appreciate the meaning that’s been added to their purchases now.”
Wilson concurs, “The holidays can be really rough when you are experiencing unfortunate circumstances. We are grateful to Dave’s and their generous shoppers for extending a little extra help to their neighbors again this year.”
