Ocean Mist Farms Supports Peak Artichoke Season With Sweepstakes

CASTROVILLE, Calif. – Ocean Mist Farms is supporting sales of fresh artichokes this spring peak season with the company’s second consumer sweepstakes. The Take Your Pic sweepstakes is intended to engage shoppers nationwide as well as drive membership in Ocean Mist Farms’ Artichokes Aficionados club.

The sweepstakes runs throughout the month of April. During that time, artichoke lovers are invited to take pictures of fresh artichokes wherever they see them on sale, such as in a print ad or online, then visit Ocean Mist Farms’ mobile site, m.oceanmist.com, to upload the picture. One winning picture will be chosen each week in April to receive $2,000. Shoppers have to be members of the Artichoke Aficionados club to win.

Ocean Mist Farms is promoting the sweepstakes with display contests, in store signage, artichoke petal inserts as well through its website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Sweepstakes point of sale is available at www.oceanmist.com or the trade order portal.

“Take Your Pic rewards artichoke shoppers for being our eyes and ears in their market and helping other shoppers find artichokes in their region,” said Kori Tuggle, director of marketing and business development.

Last year theEasy to Make Easy to Win sweepstakes helped grow membership in the Artichoke Aficionados club to over 33,000 members.

In addition to the sweepstakes activities, Ocean Mist Farms is supporting peak season sales with in-store demos at select retail partners’ locations, and added a new feature to its mobile site, m.oceanmist.com that tells shoppers where to find artichokes on sale in their market. The company is also launching the first ever cleaned and ready to cook artichokes in a microwavable-ready to season and steam bag.

In Northern California, where fresh artichoke sales have the highest velocity, Ocean Mist Farms is working with Raley’s, Savemart, Lucky and FoodMaxx stores on display contests during peak season. Rouses in New Orleans plans to build the world’s largest artichoke display the week of April 16.
