RALEIGH — Shoppers looking for freshness from North Carolina farms will have plenty of opportunities to sample and buy fresh North Carolina food products at their local Walmart as part of the Got to Be NC Walmart Tour.
“With so much consumer interest these days in buying local, we put this tour together to highlight North Carolina products that can be found in Walmart stores across the state,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Some of our Goodness Grows in North Carolina members will be on hand offering samples of their products. This is a great way for consumers to try some of the high-quality products made or grown right here in North Carolina.”
In addition, shoppers can stop by and take their picture with the Big Cart, a 13-foot tall, 15-foot long motorized shopping cart that is part of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ promotional efforts. The super-sized vehicle, with its Chevrolet 396 V-8 engine, is an attention grabber that has made appearances at store openings, parades and special events across the state.
Sampling will be held from 4-6 p.m. at each location. Following are the scheduled Walmart Tour dates and locations:
