Niagara County, NY Greenhouse Operation Could Create 100 New Jobs

A forgotten Wheatfield site has been targeted by a Jacksonville, Fla. firm that hopes to marry cutting-edge energy and environmental technology with basic farming principles to create a greenhouse operation producing organic vegetables.
The project, Wheatfield Gardens LLC, will see the vacant former Foristar greenhouse on Shawnee Road transformed into the state-of-the-art agricultural-based operation.
Wheatfield was selected over sites in Virginia and Maine because of a handsome incentive package and the availability of the utilities and services needed to make the greenhouse work according to projections, said Arnold Rogers, Merriman Capital manager.
