Glassboro, NJ – The New Jersey Peach Promotion Council (PPC) is now making it easy for buyers to find when and where to buy locally grown Jersey-fresh peaches, by means of an up-graded social media package that integrates its website, Facebook, and Twitter.  Member growers, wholesalers, retailers, farmers markets and other interested parties can now be easily found  and linked.  The organization of member-growers has also updated its logo to be very modern, catchy and easy to read, even in the small print of Facebook.

"We're a small state that nonetheless ranks fourth in peach production in the country," says Santo John Maccherone, chair of the PPC.  "But we're in a short-season, competitive business, and we need to stay in the forefront of retailers and consumers' minds.  Social media is a very important means of quick communication in today's market. Our new look and integrated online presence makes New Jersey-grown peaches easy to identify and ask for. Of course, our Peach Buyers Guide remains a strong printed source of information, and is available on request to the PPC."

The Peach Promotion Council's member growers are all listed and linked on the www.jerseypeaches.com website, on facebook.com/newjerseypeaches, and Twitter @NJ_Peaches.  With the start of this year's season, in early July, more than 25 farmers markets, restaurants, retail markets, and orchards holding special peach events are linked on the website and kept up-to-date on Facebook.  The council's advertising carries a hashtag # that can be scanned to the website.  Twitter tweets special peach offers and when and where current peach events are taking place.

"This will be our fifth season celebrating Jersey-Fresh peaches with special peach events throughout the state designed to generate excitement and demand for our peaches, which really are "nutritious, delicious…the best!" says Maccherone.  "We hope peach lovers will find the sites user-friendly.  Let us know how we're doing."
