Short Hills, NJ & Burlington, MA – The Eastern Produce Council (EPC) and the New England Produce Council, Inc. (NEPC) jointly announce an educational conference featuring speakers from the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) and United Fresh Produce Association (United). The program content was developed collaboratively between the Massachusetts based New England Produce Council, Inc. and New Jersey based Eastern Produce Council.
The event will feature PMA’s Dr. Bob Whitaker and Dr. Jim Gorny providing the latest update on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and research findings from the Center for Produce Safety (CPS). PMA President and CEO Bryan Silbermann will moderate a panel of retail and food service executives discussing how these new regulations affect their businesses.
United Fresh President Tom Stenzel will moderate a panel of State Secretaries of Agriculture and industry professionals on how sweeping changes in current regulations affect growers nationally and regionally. Then, United will also present a workshop – “School Foodservice and Tomorrow’s Consumers”. Tuesday’s events conclude with a cocktail reception.
“This will be a do not miss event!” said Paul Kneeland, President of the Eastern Produce Council. “Working in conjunction with the New England Produce Council and with PMA and United will help educate our membership. This program will be first class.”
“We are very pleased and excited to work together with the Eastern Produce Council on this event,” said Bob McGowan, President of the New England Produce Council. “Having both United and PMA presenting their findings in their respective areas of expertise will make this a powerful event.”
