After rescheduling the NEPC Golf Tournament from July due to COVID restrictions, NEPC held the annual golf tournament on Tuesday, October 6th at the Indian Pond Country Club, Kingston MA.
The sunny skies, warm air and occasional cool breeze provided the perfect backdrop for the NEPC Golf Tournament. However, it was the smiling faces of the NEPC members and guests that truly made the day spectacular. The much-needed face to face encounter with produce associates made everyone appreciate the day.
With the current pandemic still in full force, the golf committee took precautions by providing hand sanitizer and masks in each goodie bag courtesy of Domex SuperFresh Growers, the tournament sponsor.
Boxed lunches were provided prior to the noon shotgun start. The committee decided to eliminate all contests on the course including the cannon shot, putting contest, closest to the pin and hole in one in order to keep the flow of the game without any crowds gathering.
At the conclusion of golf, a bbq buffet was served with individually wrapped burgers, dogs and bbq chicken sandwiches. Door prizes were selected while the golfers were on the course and the tournament winners were announced at the bbq dinner by Tom Murray, NEPC President & VP Produce & Floral Roche Bros.
Tom thanked the group for attending and announced the following foursomes as tournament winners: first place Aris Pappas, Barry Paul, Jamie Unglesbee and Keegan Boone; second place Bo Lynch, Brian Gibbons, Ken Reagan and Chris Pungitory and third place Bryan Ricciardi, Bobby McPhail, Kris McKenna and Mike Mastracola.
Murray also recognized the golf committee including, Brian Maguire (JOH), Lauren Mordasky (RPE Spuds), Michael Strock (S. Strock & Co., Inc.) for their time and efforts.
A special thank you was offered to the tournament sponsors including: Domex SuperFresh Growers, Dole, Little Leaf Farms, State Garden/Olivia’s Organics, John Greene Logistics, Bozzuto’s, M. D’Ottavio Produce, Les Serres Lefort Inc, Roche Bros., Decas Cranberry, Ventura Foods, Little Potato Company, Cleveland Kraut, Shuman Farms, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice, RPE Spuds and Vermont Hydroponics.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to personally thank the many sponsors and golfers who helped to make our golf tournament a success especially this year. Your continued support is very much appreciated and we look forward to better days ahead in 2021!”
“It warmed my heart to hear from some of our members that are under travel restrictions and unable to attend the event, call and say we can’t be there but, we want to support NEPC with a sponsorship” states Laura Sullivan, NEPC Executive Director. “A silly golf tournament filled with laughter and smiles renewed our spirit and gave us hope that we will all be together again soon.”
