As vaccinations continue to ramp up around the country, and as more and more areas of the country take steps to reopen safely, the New England Produce Council Inc. announced March 19 a couple of key changes to its 2021 schedule.
The NEPC annual golf tournament, which previously had been scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 28, has been moved up and will now be held on Tuesday, July 20. The venue remains the same: the Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston MA. This event is always fun for the golfers as they raise money for charity in the New England area.
“We are confident with the increasing vaccine rollout, coupled with an outside venue, that this will be a very safe event,” stated NEPC Executive Director Laura Sullivan.
In addition to the golf tournament date change, the NEPC board of directors has decided to reschedule the NEPC Produce Floral & Food Service Expo. Previously scheduled for Aug. 25-26, it will now be held Sept. 29-30. Again, the venue remains the same: the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
The board reviewed and took into consideration current corporate travel restrictions, and believes that pushing back the expo by one extra month will help to ensure better attendance at the expo.
“We are excited to invite the membership and special guests to both of these events,” stated Tom Murray, of Roche Bros. and president of the NEPC board of directors. “And most of all, we look forward to being together in a safe environment where we can once again socialize like true produce professionals.”
