SOUTH HAVEN, MI — How good is this year's blueberry season in Michigan?
"It wouldn't surprise me if Michigan picked our largest crop ever," said Mike DeGrandchamp, owner of DeGrandchamp Farms in South Haven, where the 53rd National Blueberry Festival will be held Aug. 11-14.
That's not to say there are not obstacles.
Spotted Wing Drosophila, a nasty invasive fruit fly, are abundant, requiring stringent controls, DeGrandchamp said.
