ELLSWORTH — The blueberry harvest this year will exceed 100 million pounds, making it the second largest blueberry harvest in Maine’s history.
That assessment comes from David Yarborough, wild blueberry specialist with the University of Maine (UMO).
“The federal figures for the harvest won’t come out until Jan. 23 or so,” Yarborough said Wednesday, “but the more-than-100 million-pound figure is solid.”
The largest wild blueberry crop was 110.6 million pounds in 2000.
