GLENDALE, WI – Maglio & Company announces today the addition of two new hires, John Carkoski, Operations Manager, Maglio Minnesota and Dan Vega, Director, Multi-Unit. Both employees joined the Maglio team in January 2012.
As an ambitious high schooler, Carkoski started working in the produce industry when he committed to washing trucks for Four Seasons, a Pennsylvania produce distributor, in 1997. Working his way through warehouse operations, Carkoski eventually became the onsite lead for the entire watermelon department. In 2002, Carkoski joined the United States Marine Corps where he served on a Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Asian seaboard and was deployed to combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. During his time in the military, Carkoski held multiple leadership positions and was Honorably Discharged as Sergeant after receiving the Purple Heart. Carkoski is currently utilizing his military benefits to finish his degree in business administration.
Growing up on family farms and cattle ranches in Costa Rica, Vega joined the produce industry in 1982 when he moved to central Florida and worked with major tomato growers and packers. Vega’s time in Florida launched his career in operations and management with nationally known companies. During the last 30 years, Vega has worked with growers, retailer, and foodservice customers across North America, held regional and national sales roles, and managed repacking operations and procurement programs.
“John and Dan bring great value to our company and play key roles in our new Minnesota facility,” said Sam Maglio, President of Maglio & Company. “With their knowledge and expertise of the produce industry, as well as their work ethic and leadership skills, both individuals reinforce our commitment to providing high-quality produce solutions and conscientious customer service.”
