Lucky Lee, COO of Lucky’s Real Tomatoes of Brooklyn, NY, has been appointed to a three year term to the Board of Directors of the New York Industrial Development Agency. She was nominated by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and shortly thereafter, The Honorable Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed her to the position.

The mission of the NYCIDA is to encourage economic development throughout the five boroughs, and to assist in the retention of existing jobs, and the creation and attraction of new ones. Having been in the Produce Industry for over thirty years, Ms. Lee is particularly focused on the city’s new “FRESH” Program.  The Food Retail Expansion to Support Health provides zoning and financial incentives to promote the establishment and retention of neighborhood grocery stores in underserved communities throughout the five boroughs.

“Healthy and sustainable food should not be a privilege for some, but available to all New Yorkers . . . and all Americans.”
