Lindie Stroebel will join Produce Marketing Association (PMA) on Feb. 22 in the newly created role of general manager for southern Africa. Stroebel holds over 13 years of experience in agribusiness. Her background and expertise in strategy and organizational management were critical to her selection for this new role.

As PMA’s general manager, Stroebel will work closely with the global organization, the South Africa volunteer leaders, PMA’s members, government agencies and other stakeholders to support the growth of PMA and the fresh produce industry in southern Africa, including South Africa.

“This new position, and the agreement with Lindie to join the PMA team, is a direct result of the strategic vision adopted to take PMA’s value proposition to the next level,” says Tommie van Zyl, chairman of PMA’s South Africa Country Council, PMA board member and CEO, ZZ2. “With Lindie’s drive, experience, and networking and communication skills we are strongly positioned to deliver even more value to all our stakeholders in the fresh produce value channel.”

In her previous role, Stroebel served as the Manager of Economic Intelligence at the Agricultural Business Chamber (AgBiz) in South Africa. In that role, she demonstrated strong internal and external communications skills where she worked closely with members, industry, government and the media. She led and organized company events, including local and international conferences, workshops and special events. Also proficient in agribusiness intelligence, Stroebel was responsible for research and data analysis including trade competitiveness studies, agribusiness executive surveys, investment trend analysis, value chain analysis and more.

“This expanded role demonstrates PMA’s commitment to South Africa and the region,” states PMA Vice President of Global Business Development Richard Owen. “Lindie’s participation will be substantial as she builds on the value PMA already extends to its members in the region.”
