EAGLE, ID, JULY 15, 2010 – The Idaho Potato Commission's (IPC) President and CEO, Frank Muir, was the first volunteer to go "Over The Edge" to help raise funds and awareness for Idaho's Special Olympics.
"It was an absolute thrill, professionally, personally and physically to rappel off a 14-story building for a great organization like the Special Olympics," said Muir. "The IPC has been a strong and long-time supporter of the Special Olympics, and it was an honor to be invited to participate in this unique event."
Over The Edge is a new and exciting fundraiser for Special Olympics Idaho where willing volunteers were challenged to raise a minimum of $1,000 for the opportunity to rappel off a commercial building in downtown Boise. Dozens of participants harnessed up and climbed down the Hampton Inn & Suites on South Capitol Boulevard.
As a sponsor of the event, the IPC's mascot, Spuddy Buddy, was on the ground giving away special blue-jacketed Spuddy Buddies which commemorate the Special Olympics World Winter Games held previously in Boise. The unique Spuddy Buddies came complete with a carabineer and attached card recognizing those who went "Over The Edge." Everyone enjoyed posing for pictures with Spuddy Buddy.
