MEMPHIS, Tenn – International Paper is proud of its longevity and local presence in the Texas border region. As an exhibitor at this week’s Viva Fresh Produce Expo International Paper will tout its Texas heritage of more than 60 years of operating in South Texas. The Viva Fresh Expo serves as a premier venue for International Paper to highlight its proven corrugated packaging solutions ideal for the agricultural industry. These solutions include wax and wax alternative, water resistant boxes; bulk packaging; and high graphic, retail display packaging.
International Paper has four facilities in South Texas and the Tamaulipas border, as well as nine other facilities in Mexico, having grown that market to meet the growing needs of the agricultural industry. International Paper’s portfolio of services along the Texas border includes warehousing on both sides of the border, in-house customs brokerage, local designers with extensive knowledge of agricultural packaging and a fully bilingual staff.
International Paper’s Mechanical Packaging System, including a Southwest team based in McAllen, Texas, encompasses a fleet of 3,000 machines designed to form multiple boxes and packaging at packing houses or sheds. A team of experts assist our customers with machine selection, proper placement, onsite set-up and ongoing maintenance and supplies. When new packaging needs arise, our experts can quickly adapt the equipment without adding or replacing equipment that is already located at customers’ sites.
According to Bret Erickson, President and CEO, Texas International Produce Association, “International Paper is the Association’s fifth longest-standing member, having joined in 1954. The company’s leadership has been invaluable – from active participation on the Board for more than six decades to support provided through numerous sponsorships. We are very proud to partner with International Paper, and I look forward to seeing the breadth of its offerings at this year’s Viva Fresh Produce Expo.”
Texas Region General Manager, North American Container, International Paper, Kevin Griffin, is excited about the future for International Paper when it comes to serving the Texas border region’s needs. “We have a bright future in the Texas border region and continually make capital investments to improve our offerings. In addition, recovery of corrugated containers is at a record 93 percent – the most of any packaging material -and the Viva Fresh show and others like it enable us to tell our sustainability story. Growers, packers and retailers are helping the environment by utilizing corrugated packaging, which contains recycled content and can be recycled after use.”
