Nogales, AZ – With the unveiling of the Mexican Produce Import Report, buyers and distributors of Mexican produce will get a sneak peek at the coming Mexican import season during the official kickoff to the 2016-17 season at the Nogales Produce Convention and Golf Tournament.

Along with a presentation about this important market data, attendees will get a comprehensive description of what their company may need to fully comply with the new Food Safety Modernization Act regulations.

The season officially starts with the celebration of the Nogales produce convention, this year taking place on Nov.3-5 at the Tubac Golf Resort and SPA.

As is traditional the convention is a celebration of a continually growing industry that includes educational sessions and various activities of recognition and leisure.

“We believe that a successful season not only depends on good market conditions, high demand and market access, but also good preparation, training and knowledge, therefore, we are excited to start the season with educational sessions in these two mayor topics: food safety and the Import Report,” said Lance Jungmeyer, president of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas.

In the matters of food safety, the session will include the following: What kind of food safety training and certifications will your company need to comply with FSMA? Depending on the nature of your supply chain, you may have different food safety compliance needs than your competitors. Learn which types of food safety trainings will be most relevant for your company.

The 2015/16 Import Report will reveal trends in the import industry with statistics and comparisons from various seasons showing which items are gaining and losing ground in the market. A panel of growers will give their take on the coming 2016/17 season.

The educational sessions are scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at the chapel of the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa and these sessions will be open at no cost to the public, but registration is required at www.freshfrommexico.com, said Jungmeyer.

“We would like to invite the industry to participate in the 48th Nogales Produce Convention not only because it is an incredible opportunity to network, but to strengthen the overall fresh produce industry,” said Jungmeyer.
