The International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) announces the formation of two further committees of the Board, these being:

· Communications Committee, to be chaired by IFPS Director Harrij Schmeitz – Frug I Com (Netherlands), with the brief to create a communications framework and
improve the IFPS web presence;

· Information Management Committee, to be chaired by Gerard Lamers – Frug I Com (Netherlands), with the brief to initially explore and map the opportunities for
common information management. GS1 will be formally invited to participate in this committee.

IFPS is composed of produce associations from around the globe. The group provides an international forum to address issues which require international harmonization or standardization for the produce sectors and creates the first incorporated body constituted of national organizations providing direct representation of their respective countries’ constituents.

· United Fresh Produce Association (USA)

On announcing the creation of these IFPS Board committees, IFPS Chair Dr Hans Maurer states that “Frug I Com, the IFPS member representing the Netherlands, has made considerable progress in the management of electronic information exchange in its fresh produce value chain. The IFPS Board is delighted to benefit from the energy, skills and knowledge that our Dutch colleagues will bring to their new roles on behalf of the global fresh produce industry.”
