IFCO Supports Salad Bars For Schools

SAN DIEGO – IFCO, the global leader in Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs), is pleased to announce the donation of a salad bar to the San Diego Unified School District, helping to provide students with a wide variety of fruit and vegetable options every day at school lunch. IFCO’s donation helps the United Fresh Foundation close in on their goal of donating salad bars to 350 California schools by May 2013.

“IFCO is proud to support the United Fresh Foundation and Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools, as part of our Worldwide Responsibility initiative,” said Fred Heptinstall, President and General Manager of IFCO SYSTEMS US. “Whether through our work with this nation’s retailers, food banks or schools, IFCO is dedicated to helping make high quality fresh produce available to everyone.”

As the market leader with more than 172 million RPCs in circulation worldwide, IFCO is the leading provider of reusable containers to the fresh food sector. IFCO handles all RPC logistics, from distributions to cleaning to re-entry into the supply chain. After retail use, IFCO RPCs are folded, collected and shipped back to one of IFCO’s service facilities, where they are sanitized and prepared for re-use.

As of January 2013, salad bars have been donated to over 2,200 schools in all 50 states.
