The Guatemala Produce Trade Association (GPTA) has completed and published its 2016/2017 Fresh Peas and Beans Category Management Plan Outline. “The Guatemala Produce Trade Association is united in vision and goals!” states Priscilla Lleras-Bush, GPTA Coordinator. “Since inception, our association is uniquely comprised of the major players of the Guatemala trade deal – both exporters and importers. We know that collectively, we are able to create synergies, share information, design creative strategies that will help U.S. retailers and foodservice sell more Guatemalan products.”
“We are delighted to produce and release the first Fresh Peas and Bean Category Management Plan Outline,” adds Lleras-Bush. “This will be an annual report and shared with the industry. The Packing List of our report/outline is the association’s goals, benefits of trade with Guatemala and category statistical data, including trends and even forecasts through August 2017.
Ricardo Sieveking, Co-Chairman of GPTA explains, “We understand that it is essential to provide, communicate and share information with industry, so that all involved in our trade can effectively work together to equip and unite the major players of the category with the tools necessary for success.”.
The 2016/2017 Category Management Plan Outline for Fresh Peas and Beans specifically includes statistics relating to market summaries, trends, nutritional facts and benefits, consumer positioning of fresh peas and beans, key demographics and forecasts.
“The outline also equips retailers and industry with the type of information needed to sell more produce from Guatemala,” says Robert Colescott, Co-Chairmen of GPTA and President of Southern Specialties. “Importers have developed value-added programs that provide U.S. consumers with options to promote convenience, savings and ease of preparation alternatives in quality assured packaging.”
The Plan is available from any member of the Guatemala Produce Trade Association or by contacting its coordinator Priscilla Lleras-Bush at prestige@1scom.net.
The association’s focus is brand awareness and spreading the positive word to industry trade press, supermarkets and consumers concerning the benefits of trade with Guatemala through articles, advertisements, direct-communication, and trade show participation. The association anticipates increasing consumption and demand for all fresh vegetables and fruit from Guatemala in 2016/17.
