Shoppers who like to see their food being freshly prepared can now enjoy witnessing their chosen pineapple being chopped on the spot at various Dunnes Stores outlets throughout Ireland between now and mid-August.
Supplied to Dunnes Stores by Irish fruit importers Fyffes – and understood to be the first of its kind in Ireland – the new pineapple cutting machine uses a swish of blades to extract every morsel of goodness from the pineapple, resulting in refreshing, ready-to-eat pieces, all in the space of just 20 seconds.
Going on demonstration at twelve Dunnes Stores outlets across the summer months, the state-of the-art cutter can be seen in operation in Ennis; Dundalk; Terryland, Galway; Jetland, Limerick; Bishopstown, Cork; Newbridge and Maynooth, and at Dublin’s Cornelscourt, Blanchardstown, Stephen’s Green, Pavilions Swords and Portmarnock stores.
Describing it as ‘a high-tech concept that has proven successful in markets overseas’, the eye-catching unit is an exciting initiative which Fyffes Ireland marketing manager, Emma Hunt-Duffy says: “gives shoppers the opportunity to slice their pineapples on-the-go and at no added cost beyond the recommended retail price of the pineapple itself”.
