Frieda's Promotes Jewish Holidays

LOS ALAMITOS, CA – Frieda’s Specialty Produce has a wide variety of specialty fruits in large volume to help retailers create a Jewish holiday destination display in their produce departments. It is a tradition to try a new fruit in the “new year.”
"Many of our retailers who serve Jewish consumers request an extensive variety of tropical and unusual fruits for their Rosh Hashanah displays, so we realized they were on to something," said Karen Caplan, Frieda's President and CEO. "We can barely keep supplies of tropical fruits in stock — they are flying off the shelves so fast!"
Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on September 4. It is a great opportunity for retailers to merchandise a variety of specialty fruits like Cherimoyas, Dragon Fruits, Organic Finger Limes, and Asian and Ya Pears, as well as the traditional Medjool Dates, Raisins on the Vine, Pomegranates, Pomegranate Arils, and Wild Honeycomb. We also recommend cross merchandising apples and honey in your produce department, as it is a tradition to dip apples in honey for a sweet new year.
Yom Kippur begins at sundown on September 13 and ends on September 14. This is the Day of Atonement, the holiest day of the year, where Jews around the world fast during the day, then celebrate the end of Yom Kippur with a dinner to “break the fast.”
