Los Alamitos, California – Retailers from India made a stop at Frieda’s Inc. to get an insider perspective on the operation side of a wholesale specialty produce company.
The tour consisted of 10 retailers who represented Walmart, Tesco and Metro Markets in India. They were in town for their first experience of PMA Fresh Summit held October 28-28 in Anaheim. They stopped by to garner a better understanding of best practices in a U.S.-based produce company and how to translate that into better operations in India’s industry.
“Our industry continues to increase its international presence, and we were honored to be approached by PMA to show these retailers from India our operations,” said Jackie Caplan Wiggins, Vice President and COO of Frieda's. “It was a mutually beneficial experience and it was exciting to learn how our global industries can cooperate.”
The visiting retailers were intrigued with the strict quality control and processes Frieda’s uses in its distribution center. Notable questions from the group revolved around how to improve operations in India, traceability and logistics, food safety and marketing.
