LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Frieda’s Specialty Produce recently created its own Frieda’s Produce channel on YouTube featuring a series of informational videos, located at www.youtube.com/friedasproduce. Titled “Frieda’s Specialty Produce 101,” the videos are designed to educate retailers and consumers about unique and unusual fruits and vegetables in a creative and playful way.
“As specialty produce consultants, we seek to be an expert source of information, and the video series is a great way to educate clients and inspire consumers,” said Karen Caplan, Frieda’s president and CEO.
To date, Frieda’s Produce channel features five videos: Jicama, Bitter Melon, Blood Oranges, Kiwano Melon and Cactus Pears. Produced in-house by Frieda’s marketing staff, each video offers a well-rounded and entertaining look at the featured fruit or vegetable, including selection and handing tips, preparation and usage instruction, as well as a bit of trivia and humor — all under 2 minutes.
“We are continually building our library of educational content online. Social media outlets like YouTube and Facebook act as an extension of our role as specialty category managers, allowing us to further engage with our audiences,” Caplan said. “We want to inform retailers so they can successfully build their specialty sales.”
Each month the company plans to post at least one new video to its YouTube channel. Frieda’s encourages visitors to subscribe to the channel so they will receive notification each time a new video is posted. Followers of Frieda’s on Facebook and Twitter will also be notified of new video content.
