Frieda's Celebrates Science With Produce

Los Alamitos, California – Frieda’s Specialty Produce participated in “Cuisine from the Collections” a cocktail party held at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia to celebrate their bicentennial anniversary.

Frieda’s provided fresh fruits and veggies that were used in food stations at the event, including Pomegranate, Dragon Fruit, Purple Asparagus and Purple Baby Cauliflower.

The inaugural event was part of a one-of-a-kind annual program that will feature food and drinks inspired by the 18 million animal and plant specimens in the academy’s scientific collections. A variety of the food stations included ingredients not usually found in most kitchens, such as bugs, snakes and snails. Frieda’s colorful produce was part of a crudite station that included a cricket dip using whole crickets.

“The Cuisine from the Collections is a wonderful event that highlights science, the amazing work the Academy does and uses food as an education tool, too! It was an honor for us to be a part of this,” said Karen Caplan, President and CEO of Frieda’s.
