SIDNEY, OH – Freshway Foods announces today that it has made a contribution of $2,500 to the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign. This donation will fund the equipment for a salad bar in one of over 1,200 schools that have applied for support from the program.
Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schoolsis a grassroots effort of the Food Family Farming Foundation, National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Produce Association Foundation, and Whole Foods Market in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative. “We are proud to support this worthwhile child nutrition cause,” said Dan Purdy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Freshway Foods. “Salad bars not only encourage increased consumption of fruits and vegetables among children, but they provide the foundation for a lifetime of healthy meal decisions, too.”
The goal of Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools is to implement 6,000 salad bars by the end of 2013. Currently, the program is focused on placing salad bars in Texas schools after concentrating on Florida schools in 2011. To learn more about how to support a salad bar, visit www.saladbars2school.org.
