FreshDirect has joined the banana revolution by expanding online grocery horizons with bananas from Equal Exchange.
To support small farmers and offer responsibly-sourced products, FreshDirect will partner with Equal Exchange to be the first online retailer in the Northeast to carry Equal Exchange Fairtrade bananas, a decision that will impact over 1000 small banana farmers through increased fruit sales and Fairtrade premium funding. Choosing Equal Exchange bananas means paying a fair, consistent price – plus a social premium – to small farmers in Ecuador and Peru.
These bananas are organic, Fairtrade certified, grown exclusively by small farmers and exported directly by farmer cooperatives. And they are delicious.
