Flip for Canadian Cherries Campaign Drives Domestic Origin Awareness as Peak Season Arrives

KELOWNA, BC — The BC Cherry Association is set to launch its fourth annual Canadian Cherry Month campaign tomorrow, July 15, running through August 15, 2026. Centred on the highly collaborative theme, “Flip for Canadian Cherries”, the campaign is designed to raise country‑of‑origin awareness at point of sale and support strong domestic movement at retail.
As peak season swings into full gear, Canadian retailers are in a prime position to capitalize on the strong consumer demand for authentic Canadian produce. While imported sweet cherries may still be on store shelves, Canadians from coast to coast wait all year specifically for fresh, crisp cherries grown in Canada. The “Flip for Canadian Cherries” campaign makes it easier for these shoppers to identify the Canadian Cherries they are looking for.
“Finding premium, sweet Canadian quality is simple, and our goal is to keep it top-of-mind in a busy produce aisle,” said Sukhpaul Bal, President of the BC Cherry Association. “By reminding consumers to do a quick physical ‘flip’ of the bag or check display bins and signage for the ‘Product of Canada’ or ‘Product of BC’ designation, we are helping them connect with our local farmers while supporting strong seasonal sales.
An integrated consumer campaign will launch on July 15, 2026. Over the course of the month-long celebration, the BC Cherry Association will deploy a multichannel marketing initiative designed to increase awareness and elevate the visibility of Canadian Cherries across the country, while rewarding participants with weekly grocery-focused incentive draws throughout the promotional window.
Details of the “Flip for Canadian Cherries” campaign and the “Flip & Share” consumer contest are available on the Canadian Cherry Month web page.
For retail partners, the “Flip for Canadian Cherries” initiative serves as a simple, ready-made message to highlight domestic origin in-store. The association encourages retailers to prominently display clear country-of-origin signage and ensure ‘Product of Canada’ markings are easy to find on bins and shelf labels to maximize performance. Marketing and promotional templates are available to retailers upon request.
