Duda Farm Fresh Foods Nominated Finalist In PMA Packaging Excellence Award

OVIEDO, FL – Duda Farm Fresh Foods, the world’s largest celery grower and a leading grower/shipper of premium fresh fruits and vegetables, has been named as a finalist in the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Impact Awards for packaging excellence. An annual award now in its seventh year, the Impact Award recognizes fresh ideas and innovation in produce and floral packaging. In total, 67 companies submitted entries for the 2013 PMA Impact Awards.

Inspired by Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the #1 movie in America, now in theaters everywhere, Duda’s line of promotional packaging gives fresh produce a makeover with the movie’s cast of colorful and creative fresh produce characters. The promotion, which has been in stores since July, is also dedicated to building awareness for the fight against hunger in America.  Duda collaborated with Feeding America – the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization – for the campaign, which aligned with Hunger Action Month, with support also going to local food banks and associations.  Hunger Action Month is a month-long effort to raise awareness of the 49 million people who struggle with hunger in the US.

“We saw an opportunity to give back to a cause we all believe in,” said Nichole Towell, Director of Marketing for Duda Farm Fresh Foods. “In addition to building awareness for Feeding America and giving fresh produce a new dimension, we’ve also donated thousands of pounds of produce to local food banks across America.”

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s mouth-watering comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his most infamous invention — a machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes.
