MONTEREY, Calif.– One of the world’s largest salad providers is asking food bloggers and salad lovers nationwide to take their passion for salad further than ever during a month-long virtual salad-making party and recipe search commemorating National Salad Month in May 2015.
As part of its yearlong Get Up and Grow! initiative challenging North Americans to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables for a happier, healthier world, Dole is once again declaring May 1 to be National Salad Day and calling on salad, vegetable- and healthy-eating enthusiasts to submit their most inspired new salad creations throughout the month.
The fresh produce provider is also partnering with Coryanne Ettiene, food, lifestyle and social media expert, to rally the food-blogging community to engage with Dole to share recipes as well as the culinary, taste and health benefits of salad and a plant-based diet. Coryanne Ettiene will host a National Salad Month Kickoff Twitter Party on Thursday, April 30 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET (5 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT).
Participants are encouraged to use the tag #SaladMonth and follow @DoleTweets throughout the party (and the day) to share salad recipes and insights with host Coryanne Ettiene (@CoryanneEttiene) and other salad lovers. Coryanne will be giving away prizes for those that are the first to answer a number of fun salad and DOLE® trivia questions.
Coryanne will be distributing a number of new salad recipes created specifically for Get Up and Grow! throughout the hour. These range from the Grilled Romaine Salad with Balsamic Glazed Strawberries, the Grilled Banana and Peach Salad with Arugula and the Charred Summer Salad, which Dole is christening “The Official 2015 Salad of Summer,” to Spring Green Shoots and the Sesame Thai Soba and Vegetable Salad, among many others.
