Crystal Valley Foods is pleased to announce that effective June 26, 2012 we have received formal certification by SCS under the norms of SQF 2000 LEVEL 2.
Under the Level 2 certification, Accredited HACCP Based Food Safety Plans, Crystal Valley Foods is certified within the scope of three distinct Food Sector Categories in fresh produce handling:
FSC #4 Fresh Produce Receiving, Grading, Packing & Distribution
FSC #14 Fresh Cut & Retail / Foodservice Repack Operations
FSC # 25 Warehouse Receiving, Storage & Distribution
SQF Level 2 certification is one facet of Crystal Valley Foods commitment to maintaining a safe and secure food supply. Crystal Valley Foods is also working with GS1 on the implementation of traceability initiatives.
In line with establishing a comprehensive food safety program Crystal Valley Foods created three new positions in the past twelve months to ensure compliance and ongoing monitoring of growers, 3rd party packing partners, in-house HACCP program implementation, and logistics partners. The positions of corporate Director of Food Safety, Grower Compliance Manager, and Quality Assurance Supervisor were established.
We were very pleased to pass the SCS audit with a SUPERIOR rating on the first audit, and this is a testimony to the commitment and dedication of the Crystal Valley Foods Operations and Food Safety / QA staff during the past twelve month period. This certification is not in itself our primary food safety objective, but rather one step in the direction of providing our customers with a safeguard towards a more secure food supply.
