November 11, 2010, Salinas, CA –Colorful Harvest, one of the faster growing produce operations on the west coast, has announced the completion of a new cooler facility in Mexico. The festive grand opening of the new cooler included a mariachi band, local dignitaries, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Doug Ranno, COO and managing partner of Colorful Harvest said, “Our new state of the art cooling capability will provide enhanced quality control to match our state of the art growing operations in Mexico. It is an important step in the expansion of our year round berry program.”
The 35,000 square foot facility in central Mexico is equipped with the most modern forced air cooling tunnels and is expected to begin receiving fruit beginning this month. Colorful Harvest produces hoop grown strawberries, blueberries, and Tupi variety blackberries in Mexico for both the U.S. and Mexican markets. The company’s Mexico growing operations help insure high quality berry supply during the winter months.
The new cooler will be called ColorMex, and includes a 10,000 square foot package make up operation, administrative offices and accommodations for visiting staff.
