Todd Wells put it all together to win his 3rd National Cyclocross title in Bend, Oregon last weekend. Wells overcame a slow start to join Jeremy Powers-Cyclocrossworld/Cannondale in what looked to be a two man battle royale! The two riders would tangle in a turn, with Powers having a drivetrain issue. Wells hit the gas and gained a gap and would never look back. Ryan Trebon-Kona, the local favorite, made a epic attempt to close the gap but it wasn’t enough as Wells came across the line with a solid 15sec gap and the top step on the Podium! Jesse Anthony was 10th.
In the Elite Women’s Race Meredith Miller overcame a 1st lap tangle to take the 3rd spot on the Podium! Miller came to a complete stop when a rider hit the deck on the opening lap and then was hit from behind by Teammate Teal Setson-Lee, causing their bikes to tangle and Miller to drop back to nearly 30th position. Miller settled down and began to work her way back though the field. With winner Katie Compton and Silver medalist Georgia Gould already off the front. Miller used the next two laps to claw her way back to the 3 Subaru-Hudz riders chasing the front duo. With 2 laps to go, Miller made her move and got a gap to solo in for the Bronze! Stetson-Lee was 16th.
