Watsonville, CA –  California Giant Berry Farms continues to emphasize the importance of prevention and training with regard to food safety.  As a result, the company has created a new staff position focused on field level education and training and recently hired Jazmin Lopez  as the new Food Safety Coordinator.

Jazmin was able to hit the ground running in January due to her expertise in previous positions, most recently with the California Strawberry Commission as their Grower Education Program Assistant.  She assisted with the planning, development, and coordination of educational programs and grower training events throughout the state of California.   Jazmin is well versed to assist California Giant farming partners with training and documentation for food safety, pesticide safety, regulatory compliance, supervisory skills, and water management.

"Jazmin has already been a valuable key asset to the company and Food Safety Department. With her rich background and knowledge, she is bringing depth to the Food Safety Department now, and for many years to come. All the Growers and I are truly thankful to have her as part of the Cal Giant team", says Eric Valenzuela, Food Safety Manager for the company.

Jazmin received her B.A. from Pomona College, double majoring in International Relations and Spanish Literature.   In her spare time her passion is gardening and is currently part of the Monterey Bay Master Gardening Program.  She also plays the violin and has performed Mariachi.
