GUADALUPE, CA— July 20, 2010. Apio, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Landec Corporation (LNDC) and a leading producer of fresh-cut vegetable products, has proApio, Inc., moted Cali Tanguay to the new position of Director of Marketing and Technology. She reports to Apio’s CEO, Ron Midyett.
The promotion reflects Apio’s strategic consolidation of its marketing and technology groups, including product development functions. Marketing is responsible in North America for the Eat Smart® brand of fresh-cut vegetables. The brand’s packaging uses the technology groups BreatheWay® patented modified atmosphere technology, which naturally preserves freshness and extends the shelf life of virtually any fresh product.
“The combination of these departments into one team offers some exciting opportunities to further streamline our processes,” says Tanguay, formerly Apio Director of Technology and Business Development. “This move will allow us to develop, launch, and support products more efficiently and effectively. Closer collaboration with new product development and technical services will augment marketing’s ability to escort products from idea to commercialization.”
Tanguay’s 10 years of experience in marketing, technology, and business management have prepared her well for her new role. She joined Apio in 2004 after working on the Sunkist brand at Paramount Farms, and earlier at Seminis Vegetable Seeds. She is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Says Tanguay, “I’m looking forward to moving back into the marketing and product management side of the business, and to getting back in touch with our fresh-cut customers and retailers.” Supporting her will be Marketing Specialist Ericka Horn and a Business Development Coordinator.
“Cali has a unique skill set that includes packaging development, marketing, brand management, and sales layered over a career based in the produce industry,” says Midyett. “Our plans for 2010 and 2011 are for significant growth, and we look forward to supporting it with strong product support, new product innovation, and strategic partnerships with customers, vendors, and third parties. We’re enthusiastic about these changes and excited about what the future holds. Cali will be instrumental in helping to chart our path and achieve our objectives.”
