Angie Hanson Joins California Avocado Commission

IRVINE, Calif. (March 16, 2010) The California Avocado Commission (CAC) announced that Angie Hanson has joined the organization as communications manager, industry affairs. Hanson, who brings nearly five years produce industry experience to the position, comes to the Irvine, Calif.-based commission from Christopher Ranch, where she worked in public relations and marketing since August 2008.

In addition to marketing California Avocados to encourage consumer demand, it is very important for CAC to communicate industry news, research findings and key program information to the nearly 6,000 avocado growers in California, said Tom Bellamore, president of CAC. We are very pleased to have Angie Hanson join the California Avocado team, and look forward to the contributions her communications and produce industry experience will bring.

Hanson, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in print journalism from Kansas State University, served as a staff writer for The Packer newspaper for three years prior to her stint at Gilroy, Calif.-based Christopher Ranch. In her new Commission role, Hanson will assume multiple responsibilities, including: maintaining communications with the commissions growers and handlers; managing technical programs, including good agricultural practices and an industry-wide grove identification pilot project; assisting the research program director in implementing field seminars, grower demonstrations and a visiting research program as well as coordinating industry statistics related to the production and distribution of domestic and imported avocados.
