2015 Lipman Classic – A Tournament With Style

NAPLES – The Lipman Golf Classic, RCMA’s premier fund-raising event, moves this year to The Rookery at Marco, where new turf and bunkers will compete for attention with dozens of wading birds.
The newly renovated course will host the tournament for the first time as Immokalee-based RCMA celebrates 50 years of caring for Florida’s most vulnerable children. The 16th annual tournament is scheduled for Saturday April 25.
Founded in Homestead, Fla., in 1965, RCMA operates child-care centers, charter schools and after-school programs for Florida’s rural low-income families. In recent years, each staging of the Lipman Golf Classic has generated some $80,000 to enhance RCMA’s services.
Tournament participants can support RCMA as:
* Sponsors at varying levels
* Players at $225 per golfer
* Donors of door prizes, such as gift certificates
* Donors of goody-bag items.
Details can be found at www.rcma.org.
If tradition holds, more than 100 golfers will compete in the Lipman Golf Classic. They will be treated to a 7:30 a.m. breakfast, an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and a buffet lunch.
Golfers will get their money’s worth. Owned by the Marco Island Marriott, The Rookery at Marco is nestled among the shallow waters and mangroves favored by wading birds. In fact, a true “rookery” is a nesting area for birds. The Rookery at Marco was closed throughout last summer for extensive upgrades to its turf, clubhouse and bunkers. A striking championship course has emerged.
