2014 has been a banner year so far for Pacific Trellis Fruit. The Dulcinea Farms division, acquired at the beginning of this year, has shown some unprecedented success in its decade long history. The season has seen the best yield yet in México and Arizona produced similar spectacular results. The water situation in the San Joaquin Valley had been tough on all growers but Pacific Trellis Fruit nevertheless has stepped up its production in all varieties with increased yields and slightly increased acreage than previous years.
Manager John McGuigan is moving on as of the end of August. A Pacific Trellis representative stated: “John, a 25 year veteran of the produce industry has been a great asset to the company since his joining. He was of great assistance to us on this latest acquisition helping us to transition it from a public company structure to a more market and grower focused operation.” John says “I have had the great fortune to work for outstanding organizations and help get them positioned for success for the future. I know that the team will do great things with Dulcinea Farms going forward, and I wish them all the success in the world.” The entire Pacific Trellis team wishes him well on all of his future endeavors.
In the coming fall, Pacific Trellis Fruit will continue to expand its Dulcinea melon program by opening up new areas of production for all varieties. The 2014-2015 winter programs will have significantly higher volume this year with production from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.
Pacific Trellis Fruit has created a new position for Research and Development industry veteran and former Syngenta employee, Paul Collazo. He is joining the company to continue its leading edge in its existing and new proprietary melon varieties
Steve Dabich, 8 year veteran at Dulcinea Farms, continues the role of Director of Sales, “I look forward to the continued expansion in the years to come as the premier branded melon supplier in the industry.”
