SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. – Prevention.com just published its “ 100 Cleanest Packaged Foods Awards 2013” list and organic pioneer Earthbound Farm scored three slots on the list. Two items from the company’s new and growing frozen line made the list in the “Kitchen Essentials” category — frozen Organic Dark Sweet Cherries and frozen Organic Kale. Fresh Organic Mixed Baby Kales earned a slot in the “Lunch” category. The full list can be found online at Prevention.com and will also appear in the March iPad edition of Prevention.
Products chosen as the “100 Cleanest Packaged Foods” had to meet the following criteria: GMO-free, contain no more than 10 grams of added sugar, contain no more than 200 mg of sodium (400 for a meal), BPA-free if canned, and “sustainable,” in accordance with Monterey Bay Aquarium seafood criteria, if fish. Finally, they have to be absolutely delicious.
