Upstate NY Meat Packer Approved For $330K Grant For Expansion To Close Instead

New York Mills, N.Y. — A little more than three months ago, a meat packing company announced it would expand its Oneida County plant and create 22 new manufacturing jobs in exchange for a $330,000 government grant.

The expansion never happened, and now Delft Blue LLC plans to close its plant in New York Mills and lay off its 83 employees.

Delft Blue recently filed a notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act saying it will shut its plant at 36 Garden St. on Oct. 24. Layoffs will start Oct. 10 and conclude on Oct. 24, according to the notice.
