The Pork Checkoff is inspiring Hispanic home cooks to infuse traditional family meals with sensational new flavors. The Pork Checkoff recently sponsored a section on Hispanic cuisine and culinary trends in a special 12-page insert in USA Today, which honored the 25th anniversary of Hispanic Heritage Month. The two-page culinary section featured a recipe for Pork Tostadas, along with an advertisement and link for the Checkoff's Spanish-language website, PorkElSaborDeMilPlatillos.com (Pork-the taste of a thousand dishes).
More than 450,000 copies of the insert were distributed in New York, Los Angeles, Houston and south Florida. The publication reached more than 1.3 million potential readers, said Traci Rodemeyer, director of pork information for the Pork Checkoff.
"With more than 50 million people, the Hispanic population is the fastest growing segment in the United States," said Rodemeyer, adding that the Pork Checkoff's new brand campaign for Hispanic consumers dovetails with the Pork? Be inspiredsm campaign.
