Patrick Cudahy Plans Local Expansion To Modernize Bacon Production

Patrick Cudahy LLC is planning a $12.1 million addition to its Cudahy plant on land where part of its facility burned in a fire in 2009.

The company is proposing a 16,500-square-foot addition to its meat processing plant, said president and chief operating officer Bill Otis. It would be built east of Patrick Cudahy's existing buildings at One Sweet Apple-Wood Lane. It is partially in the area where Cudahy's plant was damaged by a July 2009 fire, he said. It is the second addition since the fire, he said.

The building will have space for fresh bacon slicing and packaging to replace its older operations. It will modernize the product, Otis said.
