Grass-fed Blacklock Beef is now available on retail shelves at Ray’s Food Place grocery stores from Bandon to Brookings.
Joe Pestana started Oregon Grass Fed two years ago to supply locally raised beef that is free of grain and soy products. And his market is growing.
Available cuts include tenderloin, ribeye and New York steak, as well as top sirloin and ground.
“The more educated people get, the more they want to eat local,” said Mike Brown of Brown Livestock in Langlois. Brown raises about two-thirds of the steers for Blacklock Beef.
