Operation Homefront has teamed up with Tyson Foods, Inc. to provide a year’s worth of food to military and veteran families being awarded mortgage-free homes through the “Homes on the Homefront” program.

The food will be provided to families that receive homes as part of the Homefront program, a partnership with Operation Homefront, country singer Tim McGraw and Chase bank. Learn more about the Homes on the Homefront program.

Each family involved will receive $45 worth of vouchers from Tyson Foods each week for a year to buy poultry and other food items to stock their refrigerator as they move into their new homes.

“We’re honored to be a part of this program to help members of the military and their families as they transition into civilian life,” said Melissa Lee, a Tyson attorney who is a military veteran and chairs Tyson’s Veterans Business Resource Group. “Our company has a long history of supporting the military and military veterans. This is another way we can offer our thanks for all they’ve done and continue to do for our nation.”

“Operation Homefront is very excited to welcome Tyson as a partner for our Homes on the Homefront program,” said Amy Palmer, Operation Homefront COO. “Tyson’s generous contributions will help our military families stretch their dollars even further, and make their transition to civilian life a little more manageable.”

Tyson Foods is one of the leading suppliers of food to the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) and has been helping feed the U.S. military and their families for nearly 50 years. In addition, Tyson employs more than 3,500 military veterans as well as 500 military family members and veterans who help stock Tyson products at military commissaries.

The company also provides differential pay for all employees called to active military duty, making up the difference between military compensation and pay they normally receive from Tyson. Since September 11, 2001, Tyson has provided $2.2 million in differential pay to more than 400 employees.
