STRASBURG — Olde Strasburg Meats, formerly Valley Farm Meats, had its processing license suspended Thursday, according to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
The business at 1317 N. Wooster Ave. has been cited numerous times since January 2010 for producing product without inspection, processing outside of inspection hours, co-mingling returned ground beef with fresh ground beef, failure to meet labeling requirements and improperly wholesaling product, the state agency said.
The company, under both present and former management, has issued four food recalls since August 2009.
Effective immediately, the suspension prohibits the company from handling and selling any meat products. The department currently is in the process of completing a product inventory and will work to identify owners of specialty orders.
