Washington, DC – The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) will host its Annual Hot Dog Lunch in celebration of July as National Hot Dog Month this Wednesday, July 22, at the Rayburn House Office Building Courtyard from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  More than 1,000 lawmakers, congressional staff, meat industry representatives and members of the media will convene on Capitol Hill.  Seven vendors are expected to serve more than 3,500 hot dog and sausage products in the company of three Major League Baseball legends: Tony Perez, Bill Buckner and Mookie Wilson.

Baseball Greats in Attendance:

  • Tony Perez played first base for the Cincinnati Reds.  A seven-time All-Star, Perez went on to win three World Series championship titles and earned a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.  Perez also managed the World Team during the 2015 All-Star Game. 
  • Bill Buckner is a former first baseman for the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, California Angels and Kansas City Royals.  He was an All-Star and 1980 National League batting champion.
  • Mookie Wilson played outfield for the New York Mets, was a key part of the 1986 World Series champion team and is a member of the Mets Hall of Fame.
