Just BARE Seeks Minimalist Chefs To Create Chicken Recipes For Just 5 Cooking Challenge

Saint Cloud, MN – Just BARE® announces an all-new recipe challenge to grow excitement around its belief that "less is really more—in cooking and in life." Ending on November 1, 2011, the Just BARE Just 5 Cooking Challenge requires entrants to submit recipes using Just BARE Chicken and no more than four other ingredients (salt, pepper and a fat source for cooking do not count against the total). The focus on minimal cooking and living is central to Just BARE, a brand of all-natural chicken that offers no antibiotics, no added hormones, no animal byproducts, and no unwanted additives.

Any home cook up to the challenge may submit their original 5-ingredient recipe with before and after photos of their dish at justbarechicken.com. Winners will be selected by culinary judge and Just BARE enthusiast Lisa Golden Schroeder and by popular vote on the Just BARE Facebook page. The grand prize winner will be announced around December 12, 2011.

"We're really excited to see the creativity we know consumers have," said Julie Berling, director of brand advocacy for Just BARE. "We’re passionate about simplicity and hope this contest gives consumers a good reason to get back to the basics—especially when it comes to their food."

Just BARE’s Just 5 Cooking Challenge giveaways reflect the brand’s commitment to the planet. For example, even the largest Sub-Zero® Refrigerator that is part of the grand prize package uses less energy per day than a light bulb. One lucky winner will receive over $17,000 in prizes, including the refrigerator, one Calphalon® Cookware Set, and one Calphalon Block Set. Four runners-up will receive nearly $1,000 in prizes including a Calphalon Cookware Set and Calphalon Block Set. Each of the top 10 finalists will win a one-year Family Wind Power Plan and Green Your Phone package of Renewable Choice® Energy credits to offset their energy usage that is valued at nearly $200. For every entry, Just BARE will support wind energy with the purchase of 750 kWh of renewable energy credits.

"This recipe challenge is about more than 'recipes.' It's about proving that cooking doesn't have to be complicated. In the busy world we live in, we owe it to ourselves to simplify our lives, concentrating on wholesome, basic ingredients in what we eat. We have high hopes for the challenge and are looking forward to rewarding minimalist chefs who share our belief that less really is more," Berling concluded.
