HOLLAND TOWNSHIP — If you’re having ham for Christmas and plan to buy a Meijer, Spartan or Aldi brand ham, there’s a good chance it was cut and packaged for you by West Michigan pork processor Quincy Street Inc.
Founded in 1994, the low-profile company is one of the state’s largest independent pork processing operations, generating 25 to 30 million pounds of pork product annually from its 100,000-square-foot plant at 13350 Quincy St.
“Quality pork is our one and only main product,” said company President and CEO Douglas Hekman, whose office in the plant is full of ceramic and hand-painted pigs and porkers — gifts from friends and associates.
The company expects to produce 1 million hams for this Christmas season, which is the biggest ham season of the year, followed by Easter.
