Golden Bison Co. Hires VP Retail Sales North America

DENVER – Golden Bison Co., a Denver-based, integrated family of bison businesses, hired industry veteran Kathy Lund as its new VP Retail Sales North America, bringing more than 30 years of sales, marketing and business-development expertise to the company.  Lund will have responsibility across Golden Bison’s three brands — High Plains Bison, Carmen Creek and Prime Life – supporting customer acquisition and driving customer satisfaction during a time of accelerated growth.

Lund has led marketing and sales initiatives for large retail and consumer goods companies like General Mills (Minneapolis) and The Coca-Cola Company’s Minute Maid (Houston and Denver), and has been instrumental in building smaller companies in the nutritional market, such as AIDP, Inc. (Los Angeles) and Bioenergy Life Science (Minneapolis).  Most recently, she was Vice President of Business Development & Marketing for AIDP, Inc., an ingredient supplier to the nutraceutical and functional food industry.

With a focus in managing sales and building retail brands, Lund will bring her national experience to Golden Bison during an opportune time for the business, when consumer demand for bison is growing rapidly at 30 and 40 percent each year. More than ever, consumers are learning that bison is a healthy alternative to red meat, leaner and lower in cholesterol; and ranchers and retailers are quickly responding to consumers’ cravings and needs.

“I have worked in the consumer goods’ industry for three decades, and I am amazed by the progressive changes in food choices – healthier, more sustainable and cleaner.  Through my new role with Golden Bison, I am thrilled to be part of this cultural shift in our modern food culture,” said Lund.

A 24-year resident of Littleton, Colo., Lund received her M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Chicago, and her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass.

About Golden Bison

Golden Bison grew out of Joe Ricketts’ belief that consumers shouldn’t have to choose between good eating and good health. Founded by Ricketts in 2003, Golden Bison produces a variety of all natural bison products, all of which are exceptionally low in fat and cholesterol – so low that many of its cuts are certified by the American Heart Association as “heart healthy” food. The bison are produced under strict guidelines assuring individual animal identification, feed source verification, authentication of animal care and husbandry, and all other facets of food safety and animal welfare.

Golden Bison products are all natural – no hormones, fillers, antibiotics or artificial ingredients. Its meat is 100% USDA certified. Tended by ranchers who specialize in and understand the unique demands of bison, the company’s herds are humanely raised on the high plains of North America, where bison were meant to roam, and handled with the utmost care.
