Geissler’s shoppers will be the first in the United States to be able to purchase meat products with labels featuring the OnVu® intelligent indicator, the companies announced Thursday.
OnVu uses state-of-the-art technology to provide consumers assurance at a glance that their meat products have been kept at safe temperatures after purchase, a press release said. The United States is the latest country to adopt this innovative technology since it was first introduced in 2009.
Starting on Friday, the Geissler’s stores in East Windsor, Somers and Granby, will be piloting these labels on their meat products before the technology is introduced nationwide.
Considering that foodborne illness affects 1 out of every 6 Americans,2 the OnVu technology is an innovative way to provide consumers with the information they need to ensure the meat they eat has been kept at proper temperatures from store to stovetop.
