For 100 percent Berkshire pork, high-end restaurants and distributors across the country turn to Des Moines-based Berkwood Farms. Recently, the farmers cooperative began offering their popular products to individuals, too.
“They can buy directly from us or online, as well,” said Nick Jones, chief executive officer of the co-op. “More and more people are interested in where their food comes from. They want a higher end product and we’re that one-stop shop. Hy-Vee, Fareway, Gateway, they’re all getting on board and offering our products in-store, too.”
The sought after products offered by Berkwood Farms include nitrate-free bacon, pork bellies, pork chops and holiday hams.
